All architecture is shelter, all great architecture is the design of space that contains, cuddles, exalts, or stimulates the persons in that space.
Philip JohnsonThis project employed so many of the Tracer specialties we love to bring to clients. This family dreamed of a backyard that inspired time outside together, as well as provided an opportunity for hosting friends, family, and business associates.
Starting from the right at house elevation, notice the custom cut boulder staircase that curves around the home to bring you to this Minnesota mirage. Installing the in-ground pool required tree removal, retaining walls, and major site work including the haul in of 1000+ tons of soil. We brought in the glacial boulders and placed them as outcroppings to support the weight of the pool. The travertine pool coping around the pool with paver inlays made this project special.
The custom cedar pergola is the focal point of another Tracer specialty: a fully functional outdoor kitchen, complete with expansive bluestone countertops, a sink with running water, built-in garbage storage, and the clean aesthetic of a modern kitchen. Across the seating area is another signature feature – a Lannon Stone fire pit with Indiana Limestone cap, plumbed with natural gas, expertly installed with a 350k BTU burner. Tracer employs high-level lighting techniques for creating and installing outdoor lighting and accent lighting throughout this masterpiece.
