Lakeview Dr, Minnetonka

Recognizing the need is the primary condition for design.
YEAR 2018

All architecture is shelter, all great architecture is the design of space that contains, cuddles, exalts, or stimulates the persons in that space.

Philip Johnson

This property inspired us to look to stonework and masonry to create this private oasis. Always a fan of in-ground pools, we worked to naturalize the scenic elements around it to create an outdoor experience that felt like reconnecting to nature while simultaneously having an elite, private resort vibe.

01 Conceptual Design

We supported property lines aesthetically throughout the cultivation of a natural stone retaining wall, extensive landscape and plantings, and installing a classic wrought iron fence.

Lannon stone and Indiana limestone are another star of this backyard as they are integrated in various ways: the cut lannon stone retaining wall, the lannon stone fire gas pit with Indiana limestone caps, and travertine coping around the in-ground pool.

Note the play of concrete to natural stone work as it creates the primary groundscape for the pool.

02 Developement

The porcelain fire pit area and the lannon stone installation work beautifully against the lush green plantings and landscaping. The cedar pergola on the corner of the property creates the perfect place to take a break out of the pool or cozy up around the fire as the sun sets.

All plants have an drip irrigation system to create an easier experience for the owners and more consistent care for the green features.

Finally, Tracer employs high-level lighting techniques for creating and installing outdoor lighting and accent lighting throughout this masterpiece.
